Luis Vazquez' body found in Missouri state park near Whiteman Air Force Base

AWOL Whiteman airman Kerby Barbe allegedly told his girlfriend that he'd critically injured a fellow airman and left him in Knob Noster State Park, which isn't far from Missouri's Whiteman Air Force Base. And that's exactly where authorities found the body of Airman 1st Class Luis Vazquez on Friday. He'd been missing for five days, and authorities are now investigating his death as a homicide, according to The Kansas City Star.

The story is definitely a bizarre one that started with Barbe and Vazquez not showing up at work on Monday, sending Air Force authorities searching for the men. They found Barbe in a wooded area of a subdivision in Blanco County, Texas; he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound as authorities surrounded him. Barbe reportedly had an assault rifle, 300 rounds of ammo and military body armor.

Reports at the time indicated that Barbe, 19, was suspected of killing Vazquez. Authorities are still working on determining Vazquez' cause of death, although he reportedly suffered a gunshot wound and was apparently dressed for winter. Continue ►
